This month we have two new trails for our members to assess. One is from
Colin Smalley of Whitehall Racing and the other by professional punter Paul Fowlie.
By coincidence they are both favourite based systems and it will be interesting to see how they match up against each other. You can read all about them on Page 37.

The Highlander brings us the second of the Triple Point Systems and, ever on the lookout for free information, asks ‘How much would you pay for a tipping service that made over 500 points profit since it started just ten months ago and doesn’t cost a single penny?’. Fortunately he gives us the answer – it’s on Page 16.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy, named after the greatest steeplechaser of all time, is usually one of the most competitive races of the whole Cheltenham festival.
Ricky Taylor examines the race in depth and uncovers a system that over the last nine years has had winners at 5/4, 15/2 and 6/1.

Also, with the Cheltenham festival in mind David Renham delves into the trends and stats from the last fifteen meetings and, in an attempt to make sure we all get off to a winning start, finds a profitable angle for three of the first day’s races.

In his fascinating and thought provoking book, ‘DIY Punting’, Terry Burke talks about the current trend towards specialisation and argues that, from a betting point of view, the differences from course to course offer the best advantage for the backer who possesses some knowledge and common sense and takes the time to study them.

In this month’s ‘Lessons From A Professional’ Jonathan Blackledge discusses the problem of using statistics exclusively to find winners and Bernard Hibbert highlights certain trainer combinations that consistently make around 120 points each year with a very healthy return on investment of 66%.

Mervyn Coulson continues his in-depth course analysis, turning his attention this month to Beverley while Paul Fowlie and David Peat mark our cards with their horses-to follow.

There was a small loss for the RIC tipping lines this month of 0.55 points.

In our Tipster Competition Mark Layton made a profit of 7.47 points in his first month and wins £100. Congratulations Mark and good luck for month two.
If you’d like to take part in the tipster competition with a chance to win £1000 you’ll find all the details on Page 39.
